Also, some tips when applying for scholarships:
- Always research the admission requirements, don't apply till you fully understand everything as this will be their first impression of you.
- Most programs want an entry essay written by you (stating why you deserve the scholarship, etc).
- Try to get as much outside school activities in as you can. It looks good if you're a journalism student, and you've volunteered at your local paper. Remember you need to stand out against all the other applicants, make yourself shine.
- Collect professional references. Try to meet as many people in your area of interest who can be references. Sometimes, although not fair, it's who you know, not what you know.
