Freelance Writing Jobs

Freelance writing jobs are very competitive.

To compete, you need a strong portfolio, a great resume, excellent writing skills, and the passion to never give up.

Most people would rather work from home then go to a physical workplace. And it’s all these people you'll be competing with for all the freelance writers wanted ads.

If you need help with your portfolio, check out how to build a portfolio. Or if you need help writing resumes, click here. Remember you only get one chance to make a first impression. You want to be at your best when you apply for these freelance writing jobs.

Once you've completed your portfolio, you are ready to start applying for jobs.

** Note - This page discusses freelance jobs, not publishing. But if you are interested in publishing information click here.

There are many areas of freelancing to choose from, from being a freelance photographer, to writer, to blogger, to ghost writer, to website designer, and more. Most of these avenues have their own job boards and tricks to landing jobs in these fields.

Now that you know the area you want, how do you find these jobs? Do you have to join expensive bid auction sites? No. There are plenty of free resources out there.

But, if you do decide you are interested in paying to join bidding sites, some of the best for freelance writing jobs are; ifreelance, and go freelance .
A great site to subscribe to is Sun Oasis Jobs. To find out more click here.

Or, if you would rather find freelance writing jobs without having to pay a membership fee, keep on reading.

If you're interested in blogging jobs, two of the better sites to use are; problogger, and performancing. I suggest fully utilizing Performancing by having a blog on their site. If your blog post is considered good, they will put it on the home page. Each time a post ends up on the home page, come month end, you make $10. Some bloggers use this as partial income and write several posts a week for Performancing hoping to have one make it on the home page.

Both Performancing and Problogger have job boards full of blogging jobs.

Another website to know is rentacoder. This site is handy because it's free and gives you jobs that you can bid on. It's similar to a paid membership site, but with none of the costs. Another bonus, it helps you build your reputation.

Clients can rate you and write comments about your work. By having a great reputation you can apply for the higher paying jobs, and people will take a chance on you.

Another tip to finding freelancing jobs is to "google it." I don't believe in paying to find jobs, so usually I use the search engine. I do this by typing in the keywords for the jobs I am looking for.

If I want a blogging job, I would type "blogger wanted" in google. Usually I get craiglist or another online classified as the top results. But if you keep searching through the results, you will find jobs.

Okay my second last way of finding freelance jobs is indeed. This site is great because it finds all freelancing jobs available. It's a feed from other major job boards, so sometimes you can't view the jobs if they are from paid sites.

The last place to look for freelance writing jobs is monster. You are required to register, but it's free to join. You can even add your resume to their database for employers to search. Some tips to remember:

  • Always proof your work. Remember that once it hits the internet it’s there forever.
  • Always keep track of where your work is published. It’s important to always have an up to date portfolio.
  • Always be willing to learn and improve and don’t get discouraged.

P.S. If you are interested in earning an income by writing content online, I suggest getting this ebook, Make Money Writing Online. This ebook is affordable and will teach you the tricks of the trade and help you make money writing content.

Remember persistence pays off. You might have to take your first couple of freelance writing jobs for free. But like any job you need to build a resume. Once you are high in demand, and have a great reputation, you can set your own prices.

A note - by following these steps, I was able to build a part-time income of $700.00 a month. And I only used free job sites. Imagine what you can do if you stick to it, and don't give up.

Good luck!
